What are All-on-5’s?

All-on-5’s are commonly known as All-on-4 dental implants. However, we use five dental implants instead of four to give you a more robust and longer-lasting foundation for your new smile. We use five strategically placed dental implants to create a base for the different prosthetic teeth we will be using. This treatment will preserve the health of your jaw bone by allowing it to function normally again. Each dental implant will follow the standard procedure of placing a post, an abutment, and finally, a crown. We can also employ bridges or partial dentures, depending on your tooth anatomy. 

How many teeth need replacing will help us determine what route we take when it comes to your prosthetic teeth. We can take full denture arches with artificial teeth and gums that clasp onto the implants. We can also create parietal dentures or a bridge to connect to the dental implants or use regular dental crowns. We will walk through each step of the procedure to know what you are getting. 

All-on-5 Procedure

The first step in the procedure is ensuring that you are good enough to handle the different surgical placements. Your jaw bone needs to be strong, and there should be no sign of tooth decay or periodontal disease. As this is a surgical procedure, we will administer a local anesthetic to help you feel no pain during the process. Don’t be afraid to ask us about our different sedatives. The All-on-5, or All-on-4, treatment follows the same procedure for a regular dental implant. We will first place each post, and your mouth will need time to heal around the post to secure it in place. At a later time, we will place each abutment onto the posts. We will give you temporary bridges or crowns (depending on your situation) while you wait for your mouth to heal. While waiting, we will create each arch of prosthetic teeth for you. Once your mouth is healthy again, we will clasp the arches onto the implants. The fit should be perfect for your mouth. You will once again have a brand new smile!
